I'm getting in touch to update you on Mac Mic Group's proposals to deliver new homes and a range of community facilities on the southern edge of Sherfield-on-Loddon.
Mac Mic has submitted a planning application to provide up to 130 market and affordable homes, including some bungalows, alongside a new community hub, shared pedestrian/cycleway to Chineham, pedestrian infrastructure improvements in the village and investment in the no.14 bus service. The scheme also includes substantial public open space including biodiversity areas, Miyawaki Forest, allotments, segregated dog walking area and children's play areas.
Ahead of submitting the planning application, we engaged local residents and businesses. In response to the feedback, we made the following changes to the scheme:
- Removed the proposed junction improvement to the A33 and replaced this with local highway improvements including a pedestrian/cycleway from the site towards Chineham
- Offered substantial investment to improve the No.14 Bus service
- Removed the proposed care home
- Reduced the number of homes from 150 to no more than 130
- Included bungalows for those aged 55+
- Enhanced the public open space provision
The Council's Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan has identified the need for a new cycleway connecting Sherfield-on-Loddon to Basingstoke to encourage sustainable transport throughout the Borough.
Our proposals would deliver a critical part of this key infrastructure improvement, providing a new shared pedestrian & cycle route along the A33, connecting Sherfield-on-Loddon village at Reading Road.
We have updated our website www.reading-road.co.uk and circulated an update flyer to local residents which I have attached to this email.
