Sherfield is fortunate to have two well-equipped Halls and a small garden which may be hired for regular and ad hoc functions. Alan and Jan Martin are on-site to assist with your arrangements.

The Halls are used by many groups within the village as well as being popular venues for Wedding and Christening receptions and one-off events and fund-raisers.

History

The Village Hall was originally six cottages, which were donated to the parish by Revd A G Barker to the good of the people of Sherfield-on-Loddon. The middle four were changed into the Hall in 1909 by his wife and sons in his memory, and a plaque and portraits of the benefactors may be seen inside the building. The Garden Room and cloakroom facilities were a later addition. The smaller Liddell Hall was opened in 1991 and was built by Berkeley Homes as a further facility, following the building of the houses in Pound Meadow.

The Main Hall

... will comfortably accommodate 200 people seated and 150 people standing.(See floorplan below.) It has a fixed raised stage and projector screen. A separate, newly upgraded, kitchen with electric cooker and fridge, cutlery/crockery, etc, has serving hatches to both the Main Hall and Garden Room. There are cloakroom facilities for the disabled and for baby changing.

The Liddell Hall

The Liddell Hall

..will accommodate 50 people seated and 70 people standing.

This is an ideal venue for children’s parties and is child-friendly (radiator covers, plug covers, etc).

It also has cloakroom and kitchen facilities and wheelchair access to the enclosed garden at the rear of the Halls.

All bookings carry a security deposit.
*Includes the use of the Garden Room

Note: All day rates 9am – 12 pm also available in Parish/out of Parish. These rates are given a discount. Fees for long-term block bookings may be negotiable. Tables and chairs may be hired for outside events - price on application.

The Halls are available for hire between 9 am and 12 pm, Monday to Saturday (excluding Bank Holidays). Full terms and conditions are available by contacting the Bookings Secretary. Jan will also be happy to put you in touch with companies providing catering and bar services, discos/band hire, marquees, children’s entertainment, etc.

Please note, Sherfield Village Hall operates a No Smoking policy.
